Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). As of 11 May 2020, more than 4.11 million cases have been reported across 187 countries and territories, resulting in more than 282,000 deaths. More than 1.41 million people have recovered.

Common symptoms include fever, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, and loss of smell and taste. While the majority of cases result in mild symptoms, some progress to acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), multi-organ failure, septic shock, and blood clots. The time from exposure to onset of symptoms is typically around five days but may range from two to fourteen days.

The virus is primarily spread between people during close contact, most often via small droplets produced by coughing, sneezing, and talking. The droplets usually fall to the ground or onto surfaces rather than travelling through air over long distances. Less commonly, people may become infected by touching a contaminated surface and then touching their face. It is most contagious during the first three days after the onset of symptoms, although spread may be possible before symptoms appear, or from people who do not show symptoms.

Current nucleic acid detection reagents take a long time and have intricate operations. They are unable to meet the fast-growing needs of the quick testing on suspected patients and asymptomatic infections.

To meet global demands for quick and efficient testing, GenesPrint has developed a new method of rapid virus detection based on antibody-antigen reaction for a wide variety of medical conditions

This rapid test kit can detect corresponding antibodies in test sample and generate results in as fast as 8 minutes.

This test kit is easy and quick to use, it shortens the testing time and offers rapid diagnosis of suspected patients and on-site screen of people in close contact.

Nucleic Acid Collector designed specially for Covid-19 testing

According to WHO, the material used in the swab can affect testing. The tests work by growing large amounts of the virus using a reaction called the polymerase chain reaction, or PCR. Cottton-based swab will greatly affect the results, in part due to the fact that the cotton on the tip contains its own DNA; Cotton after all, is a plant.

The GenesPrint nucleic acid collector is nylon-based. It is fully compatible with all Covid-19 testing equipment available in the world.
